Angus MP Mike Weir and Nigel Don MSP for Angus North and Mearns visited the Montrose Sorting Office to meet local posties and to see them in full swing for Christmas.
Mr Weir and Mr Don were shown around the office and were introduced to the postmen and women who are working hard sorting and delivering mail in the Montrose and Mearns area in the run-up to Christmas.
Mike Weir said : “Our postal workers do such an important job all year round, especially during November and December when their workload increases markedly helping to deliver Christmas for many people and families in our area.”
“This has been a turbulent year for Royal Mail following their privatisation, and the recent comments from their Chief Executive regarding the Universal Service Obligation. The delivery service from our local posties is, however, excellent and essential for homes and businesses throughout our area.”
Mr Don added “It was great to meet postmen and women at Royal Mail’s Montrose delivery office and be reminded of just how much effort they put into delivering for people, especially at this time of year.
