Angus MP Mike Weir met representatives of Citizens Advice Scotland who are celebrating the 75th birthday of the organisation. He discussed with them the work being done by the CAB throughout Scotland and congratulated the Angus CAB on the fantastic work they do throughout the county.
Commenting Mike said
“The Citizens Advice bureau provide free, independent, confidential and impartial advice and their services are needed more than ever. It is worth noting that of the advice issues that have been brought to the Angus Bureau over the last year the greatest number, some 38.6%, have related to Benefits, tax credits and national insurance whilst the second most frequent was debt problems.”
“Changes being made by the UK government in benefits and tax credits will undoubtedly exacerbate both these problems and it is likely that there will continue to be a significant rise in the number of people seeking help with these issues. This demonstrates not only the valuable work currently being done by the Bureaux but the continuing and increasing need for their service.”
