Angus MP Mike Weir met with Nic Scott- Grey Chief Executive of the Montrose Port Authority to get an update on the work of the port.
Commenting on the meeting Mr Weir said
“It was good to hear that Montrose Port continues to do well despite the current difficulties with the Oil and Gas industry, which remains a significant part of the port’s business.”
“They are, however, continuing to look at diversification and development to bring new business into the port.”
“The Brexit negotiations also introduce an element of uncertainty into the future as we do not know, at this stage, what proposals there will be relating to customs duties and access to the single market, both of which are important to many local businesses.”
